Tom Aspinall Open To Fighting Sergei Pavlovich If Ciryl Gane Unavailable

Tom Aspinall has set some lofty goals for himself as a top-ranked UFC heavyweight contender. The Englishman recently claimed he’s open to facing the menacing Russian heavyweight Sergei Pavlovich if Ciryl Gane is unavailable. 

Aspinall has undoubtedly established himself as one of the most entertaining heavyweight contenders in the UFC. The 30-year-old Brit has a professional record of 13-3, with ten of those wins coming via knockout. Aspinall recently brushed past Marcin Tybura at UFC London, securing a TKO over his Polish opponent just 1:13 minutes into the first round. 

After his last win, Tom Aspinall aspires to challenge the best fighters in the UFC’s heavyweight division. He called for a fight against the winner of Ciryl Gane vs. Sergey Spivak at UFC Paris. With ‘Bon Gamin’ beating Spivak quite dominantly, many were excited about a Gane vs. Aspinall bout next. However, it seems the Frenchman isn’t interested in fighting anyone below him in the rankings. 

Ciryl Gane’s statement didn’t bother Tom Aspinall in the least. The Brit claimed that if ‘Bon Gamin’ was unavailable, he was down to fight Sergei Pavlovich. The Russian fighter has an incredible 18-1 professional record, his sole loss coming against Alistair Overeem on his UFC debut. Since then, Pavlovich has made six outings in the octagon, winning them all via knockout.

In a recent interview with TheMacLife, Tom Aspinall discussed his next fight. When asked who he’d like to face if Ciryl Gane, Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic were unavailable, he said:

“Well, that only leaves one guy left, doesn’t it? The big Russian fella who nobody wants, and I’m happy to step up and take that. I’m more than happy to fight Sergei Pavlovich… I’m happy to fight anyone that gets me closer to the title.”
