Max Holloway Praises TKZ After Fight Night 225; Calls Him ‘Legend’
Max Holloway has nothing but good things to say about Chan Sung Jung, also known as ’The Korean Zombie’ (TKZ).
Last weekend, the two featherweights faced off at UFC Fight Night 225 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. After two exciting rounds, where both men traded haymakers, ‘Blessed’ secured a third-round knockout victory to retire the legendary South Korean fighter. In the aftermath of their fight, TKZ laid his gloves down in the middle of the octagon and announced his retirement in front of a crowd of cheering fans.
In a post-fight press conference, Max Holloway was full of praise for ‘The Korean Zombie.’ Expressing his awe at the South Korean fighter’s tank-like durability, the former featherweight champion stated:
“Legend, legend. The dude is a zombie. I hit him in the second and thought I had him out, but he kept coming back… He’s just a legend… He never wanted to die on his shield, he always dies on his sword. That’s why people love ‘The Korean Zombie.’ It was an honor to be his last fight. I know it didn’t go the way that he wanted or his fans wanted, but that’s what he wanted to do. He wanted to fight me. He wanted to do that, and that’s how you know the man is a legend.”

Max Holloway Reacts To TKZ Surviving Anaconda Choke
Max Holloway and ‘The Korean Zombie’ put on a fight for the ages this past weekend. Both men lived up to their reputations and put on an enthralling striking display that saw them exchange blows for the majority of the fight.
After going back and forth in the first round, Holloway switched to a higher gear in the second screen. Despite catching some powerful shots from TKZ, the Hawaii native was able to recover quickly and return the favor. During a sequence in the second round, Max Holloway dropped TKZ with a hard right and followed up with a vice-like anaconda choke.
During the submission attempt, Max Holloway was seen calling the referee to check on TKZ. While many thought the South Korean had gone unconscious, Chan Sung Jung lived up to his moniker and got up. In the third round, Holloway displayed his one-punch knockout power and finished his opponent in spectacular fashion.
In the same post-fight press conference, ‘Blessed’ was asked to comment on the moment he thought TKZ lost consciousness. Sharing his hilarious reaction, Holloway said:
“The ‘Zombie’ is a zombie bro! I swear I saw him stop breathing! I was telling Marc [Goddard], ‘Bro, he’s out!’ And then [Jung] would start wiggling his fingers, like, what is he made out of? The dude is built different… He was not breathing, breathing, gargling, every single sound that someone getting choke [makes], you could hear it, and he was doing it.”
