3 Spoilers For AEW Wrestledream That You Need To Know

1 years ago By Jhon Woug

AEW’s upcoming pay-per-view, WrestleDream, has seen several significant matches added to its already exciting lineup. While WrestleDream already boasted marquee matchups like Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr., the event continued to build anticipation by unveiling more matches throughout the night. Among the new additions are three contests with championship gold at stake, including one bout with the potential to crown a dual champion and another to determine the number one contender for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

At the outset of the AEW Collision, Christian Cage made a bold declaration of victory. He secured the AEW title by tossing Darby Allin out of the ring and then pinning his ally, Luchasaurus. However, Luchasaurus wasn’t pleased with Christian snatching the title away. To add to the intrigue, Christian learned that he would defend his newly acquired championship against Allin at WrestleDream in a two-out-of three falls match.

Later in the night, Julia Hart of the House of Black squared off against Kiera Hogan, who sought revenge for Hart’s actions against Willow Nightingale. Hart emerged victorious and continued to torment Hogan with a submission hold even after securing the win. Skye Blue attempted to intervene but was also taken down by Hart. Brody King, Hart’s ally, revealed her determination to seek retribution for her loss to TBS Champion Kris Statlander. This sets up their clash at WrestleDream.

Eddie Kingston, the new ROH World Champion, added to the excitement as he will defend his ROH title and NJPW Strong Openweight Championship at WrestleDream against ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata. Kingston’s impressive run is on the line, and fans are eager to see if it continues at WrestleDream.

Additionally, a major Trios match was confirmed, with Sammy Guevara, Don Callis’ latest recruit, teaming up with Will Ospreay and Konosuke Takeshita to face Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and Kota Ibushi. The new lineup also includes a 4-Way Tag Team Number One Contender’s match, featuring The Young Bucks, The Gunns, The Lucha Bros., and Hook and Orange Cassidy. The winners will challenge the winners of the FTR vs. Aussie Open contest.

Could Tony Khan officially announce the signing of Edge? ?

There are persistent rumours circulating that WWE Hall of Famer Edge might be making a move to All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

An insider account, operating under the handle BWE, utilised Twitter to disseminate some details concerning the former WWE World Champion, and the information appears promising for Tony Khan and the AEW team.

The source said,

“Edge is closer to AEW than ever, apparently. I am mind-blown by how this business has changed yet is so similar to WCW/WWF. The E are playing the right cards right now. Unless something big pops up in AEW books in the future,”

Is Adam Cole out of his WWE match?

Adam Cole’s participation in the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view on Sunday, October 1, is in doubt due to a recent injury. The promotion plans to provide an update on this situation during Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.

Cole sustained a leg injury while assisting MJF in last week’s main event on Dynamite against Samoa Joe. His visible limp after descending from the elevated ramp to the floor raised concerns.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez expressed scepticism about Cole’s availability for WrestleDream. They anticipated that AEW would refrain from making any announcements until Dynamite, as they could potentially integrate it into their television plans.

MJF and Cole have held the ROH Tag Team Championships since defeating Aussie Open at the All-In event last month.

How did WrestleDream come about?

Antonio Inoki, the visionary behind New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), sadly passed away on October 1, 2022. Before his demise, All Elite Wrestling (AEW), an American wrestling promotion, had initiated a collaborative partnership with NJPW in early 2021. This partnership led to the creation of an annual co-promotional event known as AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door, with its inaugural edition taking place in June 2022.

In April 2023, AEW took steps to trademark the name “AEW WrestleDream.” During a media scrum at the All In event on August 27, AEW President Tony Khan officially announced the organisation’s plans to host a pay-per-view (PPV) event named WrestleDream. This event would serve as a tribute to the late Antonio Inoki, a figure whom Khan deeply admired in the world of professional wrestling. WrestleDream was scheduled for October 1, 2023, marking the one-year anniversary of Inoki’s passing. The event venue was set to be the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. The event’s name, WrestleDream, was a nod to Inoki, whom Khan hailed as “wrestling’s greatest dreamer.” Tickets for the event became available for purchase on September 8, 2023.

Storylines:

WrestleDream will showcase professional wrestling bouts featuring various wrestlers engaged in ongoing rivalries and storylines. These wrestlers assume the roles of heroes, villains, or multifaceted characters in scripted narratives that build tension and ultimately lead to a wrestling match or series of matches. These storylines are developed and presented on AEW’s weekly television programmes, including Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision.

Originally slated to face NJPW’s Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door in June 2022, Bryan Danielson was unable to do so due to an injury. Over a year later, during the September 9, 2023, episode of Collision, Danielson revealed his desire to face Sabre Jr. as his career approached its conclusion. Subsequently, an official match between the two was announced for WrestleDream.

Here’s the updated card:

  • Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
  • “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland
  • FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (c) vs. Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis) tag team match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship
  • Better Than You Bay Bay (Adam Cole and MJF) (c) vs. The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch) Tag Team Match for the ROH World Tag Team Championship
